Welcome to AIDS Walk 2006!
The 12th annual AIDS Walk for Life will be held Saturday, September 23 in Nelson.
We're planning lots of fun events for this year's AIDS Walk, including an invigorating warm-up followed by the walk through the streets of Nelson, as well as entertainment, prizes, guest speakers, a barbeque and more to follow at beautiful Lakeside Park.
You can register as an individual walker, start a team, or join an existing team.
The annual AIDS Walk for Life is the only fundraising campaign for ANKORS. All proceeds from the event will go directly to the ANKORS Foundation Fund, which is a fund for people in West Kootenay Boundary area who are living with HIV/AIDS who are in need of some extra financial support. All proceeds stay in the area.
Registration and warm-up will on the day of the walk begin at 10:30 am between Sidewinder’s Coffee House, and Gerick’s Cycle and Sports, on Baker Street. At 12:00 noon, the walk will begin starting on Hall Street and proceeding along Baker Street, down Ward Street, along Front Street and on towards Lakeside Park. Join us after the walk for the delicious barbeque and some fun activities in the park. Prizes will be given out to participants in several different categories, including most money raised by an individual walker, and most money raised by a team.
There’s only a few months before the walk ~ and we have a lot to do! We are currently looking for individual walkers, fundraising teams and sponsors to come out and pledge support for the 2006 AIDS Walk for Life! Pledge forms and walker packages are now available.
Another way to get involved with the walk is to volunteer. Volunteering is a great way to meet new people and have fun ~ besides, it looks great on your resume!
